Editorial

Oppo's Reno family of midrangers come out every 6 months and keep getting better and better (and the price keeps going higher and higher, now to almost flagship level). What you get this time is a lovely and 2mm narrower body with the same Qualcomm processor, bigger battery (smaller in EU), 4 AF-capable lenses, AI button and 5 years of OS updates. Photography is now close to flagship level, video recording at average.

PROs
compact-like size, great build, good SD 7 Gen 4 with UFS 3.1 performance, >1000nits 460ppi 120Hz AMOLED screen with HDR10+ and very high PWM dimming, IP69 protection, very good pics from a 50MP 26mm OIS main + 50MP 80mm OIS tele (both with PDAF) + 50MP 16mm AF ultrawide setup, excellent 50MP 18mm AF selfie, average video recording, 5 years of updates of mature and feature rich ColorOS, dedicated AI button
CONs
just shy of 72mm wide "Compact" lable, a 16 month old midrange chip may be hard to justify in this price range, sub-ideal (1300nits) brightness & lack of LTPO on otherwise excellent screen, no expandable storage, no desktop replacement functionality, slow USB-C 2.0 port (tho it has OTG)
