Score breakdown
Verdict
Motorola comes out with a hybrid: not quite a 8 Elite flagship in terms of processor speed or battery endurance but with a great camera, software, AI performance and build. The IP69 is supplemented with military-level drop protection, outstanding Bose-tuned sound system, excellent imaging and a very long OS support with growing number of useful AI features.
PROs
flagship build with top drop protection, just 7mm thick, good SD 8 Gen 5 with UFS 4.1 performance, >24hr endurance from a 5200mAh Si-C battery with sub-30min 90W (50W wireless) charging, >1300nits bright 460ppi 165Hz LTPO AMOLED screen with Dolby Vision, excellent 50MP 23mm OIS main + 50MP 71mm OIS periscope telephoto + 50MP 12mm ultrawide (all with PDAF) back camera setup, excellent 50MP 21mm dual pixel PDAF selfie, good video recording, stock-like Android with excellent Motorola additions, up to 7 years of OS updates, lots of AI features along with a physical AI button, desktop replacement software, Bose-tuned speaker system, fast USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 with Display Port and OTG
CONs
limited market availability as with so many Motorola phones, unusual Pantene color choice, no expandable memory, rich AI features need some polishing
