Verdict

The V40 Pro punches above it's weight - it is a big upgrade of V30 Pro and signals Vivo's big ambitions for the midrange V line. The build is lovely - a 7.6mm thick glass-sandwich, processor is flagship grade Mediatec, there is reverse wireless charging, very reliable 4 50MP camera setup and V40 Pro could be the first phone to spot IP69 protection (months before arrival of OnePlus 13).

PROs
very thin, fast Mediatec 9200+ with UFS 3.1 performance, >30hr endurance from a 5500mAh Si-C battery with sub-45min 80W charging, 1300nits bright 450ppi AMOLED screen with HDR10+, IP69 protection, flagship grade imaging from a 50MP 24mm main + 50MP 50mm tele (both with OIS PDAF) + 50MP 15mm AF ultrawide (all with Zeiss optics) and a ring-LED flash setup, excellent 50MP 21mm AF selfie, very good video recording (from the main camera), stabile and feature rich Funtouch OS and a very good speaker system sound
CONs
plastic frame is not everyone's cup, no wireless charging, no expandable memory, short OS support, no desktop replacement feature, slow USB-C 2.0, limited market availability
